1. SLIDES: Preteens tend to respond well to visual instruction. Many preteens watch YouTube and Instagram rather than listen to the radio. Adding a small screen (even a laptop) will allow you to use the slides to make each lesson stick!
2. VIDEO: Enhance each lesson with OPTIONAL videos you can play from a laptop, a TV, or any screen. Each lesson's video content helps to keep preteens' attention and support what you're teaching them in person. However, you can teach the lessons WITHOUT these videos if you prefer.
3. AUDIO: Each lesson has OPTIONAL audio tracks, including music for transitions and sound FXs that support teaching points. Once again, you can teach the lessons WITHOUT these audio tracks if you prefer.

SERIES OVERVIEW

In this 4-week series, your preteens will learn what it means to truly commune with God—becoming aware of His presence, confessing sin that hinders connection, bringing clarity to their thoughts through journaling, and remembering Christ’s love through communion:

Lesson 1: Awareness
Psalm 23; Psalm 139:7–10; Genesis 28:16
→ God is always present, but are we aware of Him? Preteens will begin learning to enjoy God's presence in daily life.

Lesson 2: Unhindered
Luke 17:31–33; Genesis 3:8–13; Isaiah 59:2
→ Sin separates us from God, but confession reconnects us. Preteens will see that forgiveness opens the door to intimacy with God.

Lesson 3: Journaling
1 Corinthians 14:33; Psalm 19:1–4; Jeremiah 33:3
→ When thoughts swirl, journaling can help. Preteens will discover how writing helps them hear from God and respond to Him.

Lesson 4: Communion
1 Corinthians 11:23–28; John 3:16
→ Communion is more than a ritual—it’s a reminder. Preteens will explore how remembering Jesus’ sacrifice deepens their communion with God.

Each Lesson Includes:

1. Opening Game & Lesson Intro to set up the lesson.
2. Bible Reading Time where preteens learn to read God's Word FOR THEMSELVES and discuss it in Small Groups.
3. Interactive Lessons that draw preteens into the discovery of Biblical truths.
4. Response Time when preteens will engage in "workshop-style" activities that challenge them to think more deeply about what they are learning and move into action.
